According to the New England Journal of Medicine, two cups of coffee a day cuts overalll risk of dying by 10 percent from heart failures, and for three cups of coffee per day might prevent Alzheimer's in older adults. This also lowers the risk of of having type 2 diabetes for others. But don't overdo it - drinking five or more mugs a day appeared to be bad for the heart.
Experts are not sure why coffee has its protective effect but say it could be due to the antioxidant content of the drink.
